After graduating from the Cherokee County School System in 1975, I went on to
pursue in a degree from Western Carolina University. In 1978, I graduated
with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Law Enforcement
and Criminal Justice. After a year in Hickory as a police officer, I
joined the North Carolina Highway Patrol in 1980 where I served as a Master
Trooper until 2002. For over two decades, I have strived to be a very active
contributor to this community. Some of my most active positions included a
Fundraising Chairperson for the local Boy Scouts, a Youth Leader for Marble
Springs Baptist Church, President of the Andrews Elementary PTA, and a Board
Member for the Cherokee County Board of Education. Now I serve as the
treasurer for H.A.V.E.N. Child Advocacy Center, a member of the N.C. Highway
Patrol Members Assistance Team, and as a Deacon for Peachtree Memorial Baptist
Church.
During my first campaign for the Sheriff's Office, I promised to take a
tougher position again drugs and to improve crime victim services. The
Cherokee County Sheriff's Office oversees award-winning programs for both of
these areas. If re-elected, I plan to further advance these initiatives by
strongly supporting the Coalition for a Safe and Drug-Free Cherokee County,
creating Operation Lifesaver - a program to help protect our older citizens, and
expanding our Community Watches.
I want to bring to bear my 27 years of Law Enforcement experience and
Community Involvement toward the betterment of our county. |
